4) I registered, but I
never received my password! Help!
Thanks for registering! SPAM is
out of control, isn't it! We think so, and so does your ISP. The
problem is that for us to get a message out to you with your password
information, and to QUICKLY get content into your hands, we have an
automated response system. This system sends your registration
information directly to you upon completing registration. Its
IMMEDIATE. however, we advise you to make sure your email address is
valid and currently accepting incoming messages. We also ask that you
take the appropriate actions with your ISP to ensure that you may receive
delivery from us. To ensure proper delivery, please ensure the
following;
1) Make sure you registered with
a VALID EMAIL ADDRESS and your inbox is not full...
2)
AOL, EarthLink, MSN, and HOTMAIL Users: Due to your ISP's new SPAM protection, you may
not receive your registration email unless you add "registration@stuff4myphone.com"
to
your address book, or your list of allowed addresses. If you
have not changed your default settings, or you are blocking mail from "unknown"
users, please add the address above to your address book before signing up with
Stuff4MyPhone.com. AOL will not warn you, it will simply discard the
message.
3)
Yahoo Users: Please look in your "Bulk Mail" folder, as yahoo
may classify the registration email as Spam.
4)
EarthLink Users: Please look in your "Suspect Email" folder, as
EarthLink may classify the registration email as Spam.

5) I received my
password but I can't login! Help!
Thanks for registering! Please
take note, passwords are CaSE SeNsITivE! So when you receive your
registration mail that contains a randomly assigned password, please note
that it must be entered EXACTLY as provided. Now sometimes, our system
sends you a password that has some of those pesky characters that are hard
to tell the difference, so here's a few tips to help you.
A capital oh - (O)
looks a lot like a zero (0) !!!
A lower case L - (l) can look like a one (1) or an i (I)
depending on the font !!!
Example: a0O4l1 =
apple zero omega four lima one - if you couldn't tell!
So here's a trick if you just can't
tell... Copy the password and paste it into NOTEPAD!!! Yep, when its in
notepad you can really see the difference in the letters and numbers!
Second Tip - CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD
IMMEDIATELY!!! Yes, we send you an obnoxious password that is almost
always impossible to remember. Just login and change your password by
clicking the "Change
Password" link at the top of the page!

7) How do I access this
site from my "Non-Motorola" Mobile Phone?
Please refer to your
Manufacturer's instructions for starting a web session and entering a user
defined URL. Please note that
the Member's Only area was designed and tested using Motorola Handsets and
requires Cookies!
Your handset may NOT be supported inside the Member's Only area and you may
not be able to login if your phone does not support Cookies or has Cookies
disabled.
Also
remember, all the content is available from your PC or MAC based browser so
you may be able to download to your PC or MAC and then transfer the content
to your NON-MOTOROLA handset using a USB cable and software provided by your
manufacturer.

8) I get the error
message " HTTP ERROR: 406 Not acceptable"! What does this mean?
This is a simple error
message that indicates you attempted to download content that your mobile
handset does not support.
For example, your
trying to download an MP3 ringtone to your LG phone, or your SPRINT phone or
your SONY phone and your phone only supports MIDI ringtones. When you
tried to download an MP3 the phone is telling you that it doesn't support
that file type.
You should be aware of
the content support capabilities of your phone before downloading. But
note that if you see this message, it means simply, Your phone does not
support this content type.

9) I get
the error message "file type not recognized"! What does this mean?
This usually indicates
that your attempting to access the site from your mobile phone but have
tried to go directly to a page link in the URL and not through the front
door so to speak. To correct this error, point your phone's browser at
http://www.stuff4myphone.com
and let us detect what type of
browser we're working with and where to send you.
Another common cause
for this error is the same as FAQ #8.
Finally, a somewhat
technical explanation - your phone's browser sends a header message to
the server when you enter an address. This header tells us what kind
of files it accepts and what format. For example, one of the first
things your phone says is "Request Header Accept: *.*, text/vnd.wap.wml
...etc" and that says to us "hey server, I can take anything you
send to me as long as its in text format and follows the definition for wml..."
there's more to it, but we're simplifying it a bit.
So we do our part and
send a Response Header that says what we can send to you. Now the
problem this error indicated is that your phone asked for one file type but
got something else instead and didn't have a clue what it was... it can be
caused by a number of things as noted above, as well as an issue in the wap
gateway too. See FAQ #14 for that explaination.

10) I get the error
message "Data Server Error" or " No Data Server Available" or something
silly like that! What does this mean?
This usually indicates
that your Carrier like Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T. Vodafone, etc is having a
problem with their WAP gateway. This is not our problem or yours, and
usually, the resolution is to turn off your phone and turn it back on before
trying again.
In most cases, if you
continue to have a problem, you may be in an area that lacks GPRS or other
wireless data services. Again, in either case, its not you or us, its
the carrier's problem or issue.

11) How do
I upload (download) ringtones (or wallpapers) to my phone?
This is a question that
really is simple! Just access the site from your phone's built in web
browser and navigate to the content you want. If its in the Member's
Only area, you can still login from your phone too. Then browse to the
content you want and select it. It will be transferred to your phone!
top
12) I
enter my User ID and Password at the login page, but nothing happens, or it
comes right back and asks for my ID and Password again.
Your using a mobile
handset that does not support Cookies or has the Cookies feature disabled.
To use the Member's Only area, your phone must support Cookies! Please
do not ask us if your phone supports Cookies, we don't know. You
should contact your handset manufacturer (Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, Samsung) and
ask them. If you phone does not support Cookies, YOU CAN'T LOGIN TO THE
MEMBER'S ONLY AREA FROM YOUR HANDSET.
All hope is not lost!
You can still access the site from your PC or MAC and download the content
to your computer. Most handset manufacturers make data connection kits
that allow you to transfer content to your phone from your PC! Again,
please don't ask us if your phone can do this, ask the manufacturer...

13) When i try to get into the members section on my phone,
I cannot. It says "413: Request Entity Too Large" Is there anything I can do to fix this or am
I just unable to use your site on my phone.
You can still use the
site from your phone, this is just a typical error encountered when you
attempt to enter the wrong address (URL) for our site into your phone's
browser. You may have heard about our site from someone and they told
you to enter an address (URL) that they read from their PC/MAC browser.
Or perhaps you were browsing our site and decided to enter the address you
saw in your browser's address bar. The site will dynamically send you
to the appropriate pages depending on your browser, so in either case, our
site detects the browser your using and can direct you accordingly.
What your see on your PC/MAC browser's address is not the same as you would
see if your Mobile Phone had an address bar!
But this capability to
detect your browser and send you to the right place only exists when you use
the proper address (URL).
Use only the following
URL:
http://www.stuff4myphone.com
You should use this
address (URL) from your PC/MAC and your Mobile Handset. If you decide
to bookmark a page while surfing from your PC/MAC, don't try to enter that
address on your phone, it won't work...

14) I can access the WAP site fine
from my phone and I can log in ok and see the eight options, from
Wallpapers to Search.
But I can't seem to get past there. I highlight the option, select it, but after downloading,
it just goes straight back to the option page. This happens on all options I attempt
to open.
OK, this requires a bit
of a technical explanation, but I'll try to keep it simple. Your
PC/MAC browser communicates with our site using a standard protocol and
markup language which you might have heard about, its called HTTP (Hyper
Text Transfer Protocol) and HTML ( Hyper Text Markup Language)
Now your phone on the
other hand uses a different method called XHTML (XML based Hyper Text Markup
Language) for really new phones or WML (WAP or Wireless Markup Language)
which most ALL phones support. To ensure compatibility, we have
standardized on WML which is really great, but has a few limitations.
First, its not as
graphically rich as XHTML or the HTML that your PC/MAC uses, so mostly the
pages in WML are pretty simple.
Secondly, it requires a
translation gateway called a WAP GATEWAY. This gateway is provided and
managed by your Wireless Phone Carrier (Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, Vodafone,
etc). We chose WML due to the compatibility factor. LOTS OF
PHONES SUPPORT IT and very few phones support xHTML. That's going to
change over time, and so will we when the time is right...However...
A WAP Gateway is
another point of failure unfortunately. When your phone is
communicating with our site, its going through a WAP Gateway and our site is
serving up WML pages to you. When you login, we establish some session
information to know who you are (that's how you see Welcome {user name} on
your phone) and we can keep track of the pages you visited so when you press
the BACK softkey on your phone, it goes back to the previous page you were
on.
Now the problem your
experiencing is a result of a problem with your Carrier's WAP GATEWAY.
It has lost track of this session information we're exchanging with your
phone. As a result, your phone gets lost -so to speak- and our site
can't tell who you are or where you've been, so it keeps dropping you at the
main options screen.
The first step to
resolve this is to exit the site and enter your phone's web sessions menus.
In this area, most phones have a browser settings menu that allows you to
clear the cache, and empty any cookies. You should do both as a
first step to resolving this problem. Then, try again. If it
still doesn't work, give your Carrier a bit of time to fix the issue.
Believe me, they'll know about it as their network operations group will
likely be getting lots of warning alerts on their monitoring equipment!
Most carrier's get the issue resolved within a few hours...so try again
after some time passes...

15) I have
a Samsung blah blah blah type phone and I can't seem to login!
Whenever I enter my User ID and Password, it just jumps right back to the
login screen! What's wrong with your site?
Nothing is wrong with
our site. See FAQ #1 and FAQ #7. We have an especially tough
time with the Samsung phones. Apparently, they just don't follow
standards! Furthermore, the special features of our site require that
your handset support Cookies. It seems more and more mobile handset
manufacturers are doing just that, supporting cookies, except Samsung!
So if you use a Samsung phone, you'll have to go somewhere else.
Sorry...
